Residents at Humberston House Care Home enjoyed a nostalgic trip down memory lane as the home hosted its very own ‘Back to School’ event — complete with classroom activities, themed decorations, and delicious food inspired by classic school dinners.
The reception lounge was transformed into a cheerful classroom setting, with team members getting fully involved in the fun. Care Manager Susan and Front of House Faz took on the roles of school masters, leading a light-hearted ‘school day’ that included registration, assembly, and a Makaton signing class led by “Teacher Susan.”
The event continued with a ‘Back to School’ buffet, prepared by the home’s talented chef Jack, who created a stunning selection of traditional school meals reimagined as elegant canapés and beautifully presented on slate tiles. Residents were thrilled by both the creativity and the flavours, making it a truly memorable experience for all.
Adding to the celebrations, Chef Jack was recognised for his outstanding culinary skills, winning the “Tanglewood Has Taste” food category for his exceptional dishes — a well-deserved honour that made the day even more special.
At Tanglewood, meaningful activities and shared experiences are designed to spark memories, encourage social connection, and bring joy to everyday life. Events like Humberston House’s Back to School Day reflect the importance of laughter, creativity, and companionship in supporting resident wellbeing.
